Melithi Thyme Honey is collected in the area of Mycenae.  Mycenae was an ancient city in Argolida, near the Tretos mountain and opposite the Argolida Bay. The archaeological site of Mycenae is at about 90km southwest of Athens, in the northeastern Peloponnese.
 
Thyme honey is considered to have tonic and antiseptic properties. According to a recent research conducted by the National University of Athens and the National University of Ioannina, thyme honey appears to have a strong effect against microorganisms. In this same study, the Bio-Chemical Laboratory of the Medicine School of the University of Athens suggested that thyme honey shows anti-estrogenic properties to the breast cancer cells; therefore, it is attributed the property of inhibiting cell proliferation both in cases of the cancer of prostate as well as the cancer of endometrium.
